Radio Frequency
On my way to the Dr’s today I was hit by the realization that although I live in a country that claims to be the most diverse and racially accepting country in the world my radio does not feel the same and worse still I feel it is both racially and religiously challenged.
As I scanned the stations looking for something I could listen to it became apparent that the only stations available with clarity worth listening to were the evangelic born again Christian channels and the Spanish spoken channels.
Don’t get me wrong I discriminate against neither of these organized groups but what’s happened to the rock channels?
I suffered the same problems when I worked for the City of Elmhurst.
Night shifts can be lonely and radio can be your only company during the witching hours.
Many times while walking my rounds with my portable radio attached to my arm I was forced to listen to how Jesus was going to save me from the burning sensation caused by a jalapeño burger.
Only when I ventured into the lab where I was expected to run a series of tests on the cities poo did I encounter anything different. Once in the lab I truly entered the twilight zone.
Yes the twighlight zone.
For the lab’s radio would only pick up a radio show called Coast to Coast.
If you are ever up past one am during the week I strongly recommend listening to this station.
It’s the wackiest most out there thing in the universe.
Reptiles living among us, UFO visitations, Big Brother and so many other subjects are dissected and discussed on a nightly basis.
Mundane for some but the live calls were awesome.
Retile humans, Alien invaders, FBI agents and psychic voodoo cults were just a few of the characters that would take the time to call in and offer insight into their chosen occupation.

All said and done though all I really want to know is what has happened to my Rock Stations.

The Child Support Agency
The Child Support Agency aka CSA (U.K.)
Now let us take a second to analyze the actual words.
(Definitions provided by dictionary.com)
Child: A person between birth and full growth.
Support: to bear or hold up, serve as a foundation for.
Agency: an organization, company, or bureau that provides some service for another.
So in essence the Child Support Agency aka CSA in England should be providing the support or foundations for children through an organization or company.
Sounds great to me, there is only one problem with that idea, in England the Child Support Agency aka CSA has decided to involve itself with only the financial aspects of a child’s wellbeing.
With parental alienation on the rise but ignored by the English Government it baffles me that the Child Support Agency aka CSA is allowed to continue its financial crusade for the children yet remains unquestioned as to why it chooses to ignore parental alienation.
Don’t get me wrong both parents should share the responsibilities financially for their children but at the same time both parents should also play a part in the emotional and physical growth of their Childs upbringing.
I strongly disagree with the fact that there is no government run agency that pursues the rights of visitation for the children. I fail to see why there is no criminal action enforcable against parents who intentionally alienate their children from the other parent without cause, while the government is only too happy to pursue criminal action against those who refuse to pay for their kids.
(Maybe this is due to the Child Support Agency being able to extract a commission for their services. Therefore the pursuit of finances rewards them with a monetary gain.)
Sure you can go through the family courts and spend thousands of pounds trying to gain access to the child or children whom you have be alienated from but legally there is no criminal action that can be taken against a parent who deliberately disrupts visitation between a child and their parent.
Why is this?
Child support is not just a monetary issue so why not combine the emotional, physical and financial rights of the child.
So here are a few ideas for the English government to consider.
Firstly call a spade a spade. Rename the Child Support Agency aka CSA to the ‘Child Financial Collection Agency’.
My second proposal and this is a far bolder move for the government to consider. Initiate a second company called ‘Child Visitation Rights Agency’.
This company could monitor and mediate between the children’s parents ensuring that the child is not alienated from either parent, safe guarding the rights of a child to have both parents in his or her life.
Now if the two companies worked alongside each other safeguarding both the financial and emotional support for the children I am confident that the financial support for the children would increase tenfold.
This would not solve every issue. There is still a large percentage of parents who just want to be absent in their children’s lives and this would remain so.
However those who find their selves alienated from their children would welcome such measures and be only too pleased to pay for their children’s financial upkeep as this would be a huge reduction in costs when compared to the money they spend on lawyers through the non actionable family courts.

From Paris With Love
From Paris with Love
John Travolta – Charlie Wax
Jonathan Myers – James Reece
From the director of Taken, Pierre Morel
Firstly this movie is a mess.
From the time the action starts until 30 minutes from the end of the movie I had no idea as to why Charlie Wax was in Paris other than to deliver one liners and death blows in abundance. For me the movie felt like I had joined Federal Agent Jack Bauer half way through a season of 24.
The chemistry between Charlie Wax and James Reece never really hits the mark. The two main characters remain likable in their individual ways but fall short of developing into the traditional action duo joined by fate and circumstances.
That said From Paris with Love is far from a bad movie. The action is slick, Wax is funny, Reece is perfectly out of place and for the most part it delivers what it sets out to do. If you like mindless violence with an uncomplicated story line then this movie is for you.
Strangely enough I would recommend this movie to anyone who is a Travolta or action fan on one condition. Leave your brain at home.
